The season is starting with the Premier League and Metro 1 teams playing their first games this Sunday at Mate Stadium.

As an honour to the Late Roy Dedman who passed in late 2021 after his battle with cancer, Hockey SA would like Round 1 of the 2022 Metropolitan Competition this weekend the 19th and 20th March to be named Roy Dedman Round in his honour.

Roy was a pillar to the South Australian and National Hockey communities, particularly in the officiating space giving up his time to continually help the growth of umpires within South Australia. Roy also gave up numerous hours doing maintenance around the State Hockey Centre and was a wealth of knowledge on how the facility was maintained to the best standard possible. Roy will be sorely missed within the Hockey community and it is important we all acknowledge the way he positively influenced the game within South Australia.
